I’m not completely on board with the development of slaughher personal relationships, same as before, and I have a slight worry for how they are all going to turn out, one book away from the ending of the series. Incarcerated in the ground, all the initial evidence indicates that she has, quite literally, been scared to death. It was really long, and I’m annoyed that we get no real definite resolution over this installment’s Big Bad though it is somewhat impliedand honestly the third star is because of Lena’s lsaughter right at the end and how happy it made Jeffrey.

The victim was buried alive in the Georgia woods—then killed in a horrifying fashion. As usual, Slaughter does a good job of writing a book that ties into her previous Grant County novels, but that also stands alone.

I tend to enjoy unusual or extreme slaufhter characters; having them a part of this story took my mind down several possible paths as Slqughter tried to figure out who committed the crimes and why. Also, old man Burgess at the cleaners is named after a friend of mine and I have great fun giving him new age-related ailments with each story.

I’m slightly terrified as to what’s to come up next in the last book.
