He tells us all the legends he hears from the people living there and the stories of those tumjlo braved the mound and either never returned or came back insane and missing limbs. In Loveceaft fictionab-human refers to a “Gothic body” or something tu,ulo is only vestigially human and possibly in the process of becoming something monstrous,  such as a vampire werewolfor in this case a walking corpse.

Is it possible to kill a story with too much world building? The Mound by H. This started off as a promising tale, but at some point it divulged into two hours of rambling about utopias and ancient civilizations.

It sounds like a historian wrote some LOL fanfic, aggravated by the insistent use of ‘Tulu versus Cthulhu. The intensity of the process is heightened because the reader is learning of this transition from human to the ab-human right along with the narrator who is learning it himself.
