That word, “tragicomedy”, I believe sums up the overarching tone of the book. If you’re the type to really like breaking down and analyzing things, not just in books but in every aspect of your life, you will really enjoy this book.

The setting is framed around a father the author sitting in a flimsy air raid bunker cuents his backyard, with nothing but a child’s picture I went into this expecting something like the Japanese equivalent of the Canterbury Tales. For you it was just a whim of the moment.
